Missing USA ratification of the UN Convention on the Rights
of the Child

The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child celebrates its 20th anniversary in November 2009, but the USA has not yet ratified it. Statements made by President Obama indicates a more positive attitude to the active participation of the USA in international conventions.

Therefore, we participated in an action in June/July 2009 collecting signatures for a petition to put pressure on the new government to do so. A letter with 1,191 signatures has been sent to the new American Ambassador to Denmark.

Death penalty and executions of minors in IRAN

A collection of signatures for a petition with an appeal to the authorities in IRAN to abolish the death penalty and executions of juvenile offenders resulted in 1,615 signatures which have been sent to IRAN in March 2009.
